Summary

The ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM) is gearing up to celebrate 44 years of President Paul Biya’s accession to power on November 6, 2026, with nationwide and international activities. In a circular issued by CPDM Secretary-General Jean Nkuété, the anniversary celebrations will revolve around three key themes: loyalty, mobilisation and serenity. Beyond the festivities, the commemoration is expected to serve as a major political mobilisation exercise, with party officials urged to assess four decades of governance, reaffirm their support for President Biya and strengthen preparations for the upcoming parliamentary and municipal elections. Party militants and supporters across Cameroon and the diaspora are expected to take part in activities marking the anniversary of the November 6, 1982, political transition.
